Looking for a tablet that combines productivity and entertainment? Well, your search is over then. Lenovo has dubbed the new IdeaTab S2110A as a premium entertainment tablet. Let’s take a closer look at the features of it to examine why this is so.

Design

At first glance, the IdeaTab S2110A looks very much like any other Android tablet. It is however, small and light, weighing only 580g. It is 8.7mm thick. Slip it into a bag and you’re set to go anywhere you want. The 10.1 inch display is enclosed by a 1 inch black bezel. There is a black textured thatch work pattern on the rear side and a matte grey band can be seen around the edges of the tablet. Hold it up in portrait mode and you will see the 1.3 mega-pixel camera. The 5 mega-pixel rear facing shooter is in the top right hand corner. There is no problem in disconnecting the tablet part. It disconnects and slips back into place easily enough.

Display

The screen itself is a 1,280 x 800 resolution with a brightness of 420 nits. The company is promoting its wide angle view, which is clear even under the harshest light. The wide angle view is 178 degrees and when viewed in a dark room, the display was fairly good from all angles. The IdeaTab’s screen has a 440 lux rating and is brighter than both the TF300 and the iPad. Colors are vibrant on this screen.

Software and Interface

The IdeaTab comes preloaded with the Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The usual Android navigation buttons (Recent Apps, Settings, Home, and Back) are present in the left hand corner of the screen. The five home screens are easily seen on this tablet as is the Android notification centre. The latter is located in the right corner of the display screen. You will find a change in the way you handle the home screen folders. The IdeaTab S2110A offers users large folder icons. You can store the apps in these folders which makes it much easier to view them on the home screens. Changes have also been made to the Android settings menu. Choose from the 9 different animations now present on the Preference Menu.

Performance

S2110A features a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 clocked at 1GHz. It has 16GB of storage on board and 1GB of RAM. When tested, the performance of this tablet was up to the mark.

Audio: The IdeaTab is fitted with two slimline speakers which pump out a high volume of sound. This is due to the SRS TruMedia audio software. Audio quality is clear and crisp.

Virtual Keyboard

You will enjoy typing on the Lenovo IdeaTab S2110A’s virtual keyboard. This is because of the general responsiveness and large keys on this virtual keyboard. The tablet also includes the GO Keyboard virtual keyboard app.

Keyboard Dock

The keyboard dock on this tablet is a mixed bag of goodies. The keys are small but there is a 3 in 1 reader card and two USB2.0 ports on the left hand side. This dock offers expanded functionality.

Battery Life

The IdeaTab has a 2-cell lithium ion battery which lasts about 8 hour or so after continuous web browsing. Extend the battery life of this tablet by connecting it to the Keyboard Dock. You will get about 13 hours or so of battery life altogether.

Other features

There is a SIM card slot on select models. The tablet has a silver power button and a microphone on the top. It also comes with a micro HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is a camera and camcorder as well.
If you are on the lookout for an Android tablet that is excellent, look no further than the Lenovo IdeaTab S2110A.
