Airtel launches 4G LTE (long term evolution). With 4G (though the services are till now available in Kolkata only) India will be in the list of those few countries offering 4G connectivity.
The 4G connections will provide speed upto 40Mbit/sec. Whereas, the 3G connection provides upto 3.8 Mbit/sec.
Who else is offering 4G technologies?
There is one more company as per my knowledge that offers 4G. It is WiMAX. WiMAX also provided upto 40 Mbit/sec, though it upgraded to upto 1Gbit/sec for fixed stations in 2011.
Also 4GProximus/Belgacom and 4G Africa / Alvarion and possibly more.
