Hands on with LG Escape

| Thursday, October 18, 2012 | | Be first to comment!

While the Pantech Flex – AT&T’s admirable offering has enticed us enough, it’s now LG’s turn to show off – the LG Escape. LG Escape with an affordable price tag features a powerful processor, a bright and attractive display, blazing fast LTE data speeds, and a thin design.  It’s utterly impossible to escape from the vibrancy of LG Escape’s display. When it comes to the design of LG Escape, the device traverses the usual beaten path, rather than stepping outside the box. With its all-plastic (shiny black plastic) casing, the Escape weighs just 4.5 ounces and feels a bit hollow. However, the look of the Escape reminds us of a larger version of the LG Lucid. The LG Escape measures 4.96 by 2.54 by 0.37 inches and looks like a quality device, except for the false note (the textured matte plastic band looks a bit tacky). Apart from this, the Escape is an attractive device that is light and comfortable to hold.

Design and Display:

There’s half an inch of bezel on either side of the LCD display that makes the device more beautiful. Like the most Android devices, the Escape sports three well spaced-capacitive buttons below its display while the earpiece, a front facing 1.3-megapixelcamera and a proximity sensor are above the screen.  In the rear of the Escape, there’s a 5-megapixel camera capable of recording video in 1080p. The device packs a sizable 4.3 inch 540 x 960 IPS LCD screen that is pretty decent when considering the price. But, if you dig deeper, the washed out appearance, weak brightness output and poor viewing angles may be disappointing to you. In other words, although the Escape lacks the wow factor, the device still stands out of the crowd for its functionality.

Interface and Internet Connectivity:

Talking about the functionality, the Escape that runs on LTE networks, features 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. It’s never a surprise that the Escape’s core organizer apps aren’t deviating from the LG’s functionality. With a strong reception, the device has pulled in some incredibly fast data speeds like upstream speeds over 12 Mbps and downstream speeds over 18 Mbps. It’s not just this, the Escape features LG’s latest Optimus User-Interface running on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. While navigating the home screen, the cool 3D transition effects splash a bit of interface’s character making it more attractive. The Escape offers you the usual Android device’s functionality. The other noteworthy feature – LG’s Quick Memo is on board with the Escape that lets you take screen shots of what is being done. You can also doodle on these screenshots and share it with your friends and family. When it comes to emailing features, you can never complain about the Escape’s rich set of features, as the device gives a wonderful web browsing experience.

Processor and Performance:

The dual-core 1.2 GHz processor of the Escape is no slouch. While it's true that the device's processor isn't as scorching as the Samsung Galaxy S III's dual-core 1.5GHz S4 processor, the Escape's processor is fast enough to run all the games and apps. Like the most Android phones, the Escape has no word on any update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which is slightly disappointing. The impressive dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM ensures a consistent performance as it ample enough to handle almost all the operations effortlessly. When it comes to battery, the Escape features a beefy 2,150 mAh battery that delivers a better battery life close to 6 hours and 27 minutes.

Verdict:

While the expectations regarding entry-level smartphones have increased with the impressive Pantech Flex recently, The LG Escape competes well with its performance making it difficult to choose. The Escape offers you tons of value at the most economical prices, making it the perfect choice for you and me.

Hidden image in every Android device

| Sunday, October 14, 2012 | | 1 Comment so far

Ever spotted this image. It is there in your Android device and is not easy to reach. One of my friend always has his Android device in his hand. I took it from him and opened up this image and challenged him. He was not at all able to find it.

I was going through some menu when I unknowingly spotted this image. I was inside setting menu and I was bored so I started tapping screen very fast and suddenly this image opened up. So here are the steps to open this image.

  1. Open menu, then goto Settings.
  2. Goto About Phone. In this menu you will find Android Version.
  3. Triple tap Android Version, it will open the hidden image.

I believe that different version of Android will display different images. I tried this on a number of Android devices but all were running on Android 2.3.6 and thus I got same image. If you have another version of Android OS, then you will encounter a different image.Jelly Bean or Android 4.1 will show you an image of jelly bean. And so on...

Kick start you blog Search engine rankings

| Thursday, October 11, 2012 | | Be first to comment!

Every new blog post requires a good start. If the article has quality content and is on a well reputed blog it automatically draws the attention of the readers as well as other visitors. The websites ranks are measured using a number of factors like visitor count, links in other reputed websites, etc.

What will this quality give you when it was unable to get a decent traffic for itself?

Good quality content is common in reputed websites. But this does not means it is not present in lower scale or just started weblogs. But the thing is it get buried because of low attention.

Social Networking

There are a number of social networking site live and active on net, like StumbleUpon, Digg, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, etc. A number of readers and bloggers are busy posting updates with good frequency on these sites. These sites provide you with a perfect kick start, by providing descent traffic. But maximum of this traffic can be categorized under unwanted. The unwanted traffic serves an additional count in your traffic stats, but not really reads or gets engaged with the content or website in any possible way. But still serves a perfect starter. These starts give the blog posts a better page ranking and then it starts getting organic search. The rate of this organic search rises with direct proportionality to the passing time depending upon the type of content.

Again the fact is simple, it just needs a thought. The traffic that gets to you comprises of the users that were not actually searching the web for exactly, the matter that they get too. If you feel you have some quality content posted on your blogger, you must be happy about it doesn't matter how much low your traffic is. Just like, you have a bunch of friends that take roaming about more seriously than studying and you have your created study material, and you only have them to have a look at it. They will look but will never go into it.

New Blog Post

If any of your blog posts have become dead, that is, it had stopped collecting any new visit. You can bring it to life by posting an update. I do own a bog which is just two years old. So, I don’t get very high traffic. But every time a post a new post the traffic rises by 60 to 80%. In some cases traffic stats cross the limits. They are a few clicks more than twice the usual traffic stat.

Updating the old posts

Sometimes, it happens. You are in front of the screen and nothing to post. When this condition continues for more than 7 days, there is a noticeable drop in traffic stats. This generally never happened to me till now. But in recent past I was busy customizing my weblogs template. As a result I had no posts of my own though some guest posts were there which I ignored after notifying the respective authors.

My stats drop down rate was directly proportional to the passing dates. It took 3 days to complete the template task. And now I had a proper color scheme that was to be implemented in published bog posts. So I started updating my blog posts, just making heading changes like color and size, setting the text alignment to justified. I love to watch my stat and I observed 50% rise in traffic stat. Then I encountered one post that need some informative updates, I did that job too. This sequence of events proved clearly the importance of updates.

iPhone Apps that Will Drive You Crazy in a Good Way

| Friday, October 05, 2012 | | Be first to comment!

The iPhone can be incredibly hard to let go no matter where you are, who you are with, and what you are doing. But it’s not because it’s the best smartphone in the world, though. That part is still up for debate. What’s inarguable about the iPhone, however, is that it has access to the best and coolest applications designed for mobile users. Here are a few examples to give you an idea of what gives the iPhone a permanent place in your pockets.

Stay.com

This application is available for all iOS devices. It offers a huge selection of maps available for offline use together with incredibly helpful lists of points of interest for over 120 cities from all around the globe. With this application, you won’t ever have to suffer from costly roaming charges abroad.

Solar

Sure, your Apple device comes with the Weather Channel, but it’s not much of a looker is it? Weather news and updates are often critical to your plans, but there’s no denying that they’re a bit tedious to research, too. Thankfully, there are applications like Solar which make researching about the weather more fun, not to mention the fact that its attractive color-coded layout is gratifyingly pleasing to the eyes as well.

First Aid – American Red Cross

Your iPhone has saved your life numerous times – figuratively. This time, however, it may do so literally as well with the help of American Red Cross’s First Aid application. It’s free to download and provides handy dandy instructions for injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening. It even comes with advice to survive emergency situations and natural disasters.

DJrun

Running is one of the healthiest hobbies you can take up, but it’s also the most challenging. Listening to music while trying to complete a 1KM circuit will definitely make today’s goal easier to accomplish, but it can be tedious, distracting, and annoying if you have to change your music once in a while just to suit your mood and pace. But that’s only when you don’t have DJrunloaded in your iPhone. With this application, your music is automatically altered to match your current pace and provide you greater motivation to accomplish your goal.

Adobe Photoshop Express

In recent times, the iPhone has been increasingly used as a way of creating, managing, and sending photos for work and social activities. If you have a constant need to tweak your photos, then you’ll do so more effectively with Adobe’s free mobile application. After all, there’s only so much that Instagram can do for your photos.
According to a Cell Phone Expert these are but a few of the cool and irresistible applications that you can enjoy with an iPhone. Take a look at what’s being featured in the App Store today if you want to know more. But in the end, you should keep in mind that what these applications can offer are as only as good as what your smartphone can do. It’s why you may sometimes have no choice but to upgrade to a new OS or a new model even.

Angry Birds sequel Bad Piggies

| Wednesday, October 03, 2012 | | Be first to comment!

If your kids consider themselves development managers on the game and every tutoring session turns into a strategy session on how to help those wily birds, you know you’re an Angry Birds fan. To call it a game would be to do it a disservice, seeing how more than a billion copies of the game have found their way to PCs, smartphones and devices.

The game’s pretty simple- birds fight with pigs in a bid to destroy them. The player launches the birds into the air with a slingshot and as levels change, you get special powers in your bid to defeat the pigs. The game grows on you really quickly and has a sense of fun and humor.

But how long will the pigs be silent? They have to fight back and they do in the all new sequel to Angry Birds. Bad Piggies has already gained top spot in the application world and people are paying top dollar for the game. The sequel comes as a strategy by the builders of the puzzle to keep things fresh and interesting. Think about it, who doesn’t like a tale of comeuppance?
In Bad Piggies, you’re on the side of the harassed pigs for a change and assist them in getting to the eggs of the birds and cracking them open. But it is not as straightforward as the Angry Birds version. Now, you’ll have to help the pigs by building stuff that moves them from one place to another.  So this isn’t mindless running in all directions but an actual game of skill and thought. Just like the birds have no wings, the pigs are an incongruous shade of green and have no legs!

Yes, perhaps the game reminds you of Amazing Alex where you helped Alex solve puzzles by moving things on the screen. But Bad Piggies is its own version and promises tons of fun.  No wonder then that it has five star ratings from some software developers. The game is free on Google Play though it will cost you a bit of money if you own an Apple device.

The mistake would be to think of Bad Piggies as a mere sequel. Yes it does seem to pick up where Angry Birds left off but more than that, it could also be considered a precursor to the whole franchise in the first place. Also, and you’ll see this when you go in a few levels, Bad Piggies is not as straightforward as Angry Birds. It’s almost abstract and it’s only when you get into the game that you get a sense of what you’re dealing with. The science behind the puzzles is physics but the concept is multi-dimensional. For instance, you use gravity to move the pigs on wheels, sure, but then it gets a tad more technical with helium balloons and TNT.

There are hundred levels which makes the game is accessible to all age groups and even the building of contraptions is a simple drag and drop in a grid space. As you climb levels you earn bonuses and rewards for finishing in a stipulated amount of time and targeting boxes with powers. But there’s an element of luck here that you might find frustrating. Like Angry Birds, there’s a lot of trial and error to get the game right and you need to actually persevere to push your way through to the next levels. Which could be fun and engaging if you think about it. Bad Piggies is a complex game that takes getting used to so start now!

6 Key Questions to Ask Before Buying a Home Printer

| Wednesday, October 03, 2012 | | Be first to comment!

Buying a new printer for home use is not as easy as you may think. The moment you head online to start shopping, you will be presented with literally hundreds of options. How do you choose between all the available printers to find the one that’s best for your needs, and for your budget?
To help you narrow down your options and find the perfect printer, here a few crucial questions you should be asking yourself before making a purchase decision:

Inkjet or laser printers?

To determine which is best for you between laser and inkjet printers, it simply comes down to what you want to print. Colour inkjet printers can handle pretty much anything, from documents to glossy photos, but the quality of printed text produced by laser printers is second-to-none. Inkjet printers can also be a little slower than laser printers. So, if you want to print a lot of professional documents quickly, a laser printer is the one for you. For everything else, it may be best to choose an inkjet printer.

Do I need an all-in one printer?

Both inkjet and laser printers can be bought as all-in-one models, meaning you can scan, copy and fax as well as print from them. If you use any of these functions even occasionally, an all-in-one printer may be the best choice. It’s also cheaper, as you won’t have to buy all the other standalone devices should you need them.

Do I want to print photos?

If you’re mainly interested in printing good quality photos, it may be best to buy a dedicated photo printer.

How much does the printer cost to run?

As well as the price of the printer itself, you also need to think about how much you will have to spend on inkjet cartridges, paper and other supplies needed to run the printer.

How much will I use my printer?

The reason office printers are more expensive than home printers is because they have longevity and an impressive duty cycle. So, if you are planning to print a lot, go for an office-standard printer.

Do I need networking capabilities?

If you want to print from multiple computers, you will need to choose a printer with its own in-built networking capability.
With the release of the iPhone 5, it also important to note that if you are going to print from your iOS devises, then be sure to know a printer is compatible with your device before purchasing.

Google AdWords Launch Shared Budget Feature: Should You Use It?

| Tuesday, October 02, 2012 | | Be first to comment!

When it comes to pay per click (PPC) advertising, many companies choose to work with Google AdWords. With this tool, companies can create their own ads that will appear on Google, choose their keywords and set their own budget. Your company only pays when the ad is clicked, and you can change your ad or create others whenever you feel like it to ensure that you’re getting the biggest bang for your buck.

Before, AdWords required that your company create a separate budget for each ad that you created. Now, AdWords recently announced that they will be launching a new feature that allows users to share their budget across multiple advertisements. As long as you are using one single account, each campaign that you create can be shared through one budget instead of having a separate one for each campaign.

What is the purpose of a shared AdWords budget?

Google is launching this new feature so that marketers can focus on one daily budget for all campaigns instead of trying to manage multiple budgets. They also feel as if having one budget allows the company to allocate the funds in the best way so that they can focus on the campaigns that are not as successful.

What are the benefits of a shared AdWords budget?

One benefit of a shared AdWords budget is that you now only need to focus on one set budget instead of trying to maintain multiple budgets for multiple campaigns. This can make the entire PPC ad management process much easier. Another benefit is that it can help those ads that aren’t doing so well by allocating more of the budget to help those improve while maintaining the consistent budget of those ads that are already successful.

What are the disadvantages of a shared AdWords budget?

The biggest disadvantage that most users and critics are seeing is that they’re unsure how the shared budget idea will work successfully. First, if a company has multiple campaigns, their one budget will need to be separated so that each campaign receives a piece. But Google AdWords is not going to separate the budget equally among all campaigns—it’s going to continue to give the most money to the campaigns that are already working. This means that ads that aren’t doing so well or don’t utilize the keywords with the best search volume are not going to have as big of a piece as the ads that are successful.

Others fear that having a shared budget will not allow all campaigns to gather the right data. If an ad is not successful, it’s not going to earn the accurate amount of impressions if it’s sharing a budget with other ads. This can make an ad look like it’s generating worse results than it actually is.

Summary

The nice thing about the shared budget feature is that Google made it very easy to use. You can share your budget through the Budget tab found in the Shared Library. There’s detailed instructions on how to implement it.
Since the shared budget feature is still new, most people are going to be skeptical of its effectiveness. If having a shared budget for your campaigns interests you, you can always try it out and see how your campaigns react to the new feature. Trying it out is the only way to learn.
