Understanding the SSAE 16 Type II Certification

In mid-2011, the Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE 16) replaced the SAS 70 audit standard for colocation providers in the United States.  This was done primarily to update the reporting standards in the United States to meet international reporting standards (ISAE 3402).  The SSAE 16 standard allows United States colocation providers to compete on an international level, and allows customers to choose an SSAE 16 Type II compliant data center with complete confidence.  Most data center customers have questions about SSAE 16 certification and what it means.  With a greater understanding of this auditing process, its merit becomes clearer.

An Overview of SSAE 16

SSAE 16 applies to companies in the same manner SAS 70 did; however, there are several key changes required to meet international standards.  These key changes are related to management attestation and eliminating allowable evidence from prior audits.

Management Attestation

Under the previous standard, it was the sole responsibility of the auditor to report on controls.  Under SSAE 16, the company must provide management attestations based upon their system of services.  The auditor will then examine the company’s controls and determine if they accurately described within their system.

No More Evidence From Prior Audits

Under SSAE 16, evidence collected during prior audits can no longer be used.  Previously, this was allowed to reduce the length of time it took to become certified.  This change benefits colocation customers because they know all of the information included is up to date and accurate.

Like SAS 70, there are two different types of audits available – Type I and Type II.  To become Type I certified, the auditor will write an opinion stating that the colocation data center described its systems accurately and completely within their service agreement.  Type II certification requires everything included in the Type I certification, plus the operational effectiveness of the colocation service provider is audited for a minimum of six months.

Resize blogger post image

Putting image in a blog post adds beauty to the post and makes the readers read. You can display your image in 5 different sizes that Blogger offers. The size table is below:

Blogger Image Default Sizes

Size	Measurement (Width)
Small	200px
Medium	320px
Large	400px
X-Large	640px
Original size	Will display actual dimensions of the uploaded image

Problem

The problem occurs when you try to use X-Large image size. Every blogger uses custom free and sometimes paid templates from net. These template have blog post area of width less than 640 pixels. So whenever X-Large image size is used the image get curtailed off at sidebar area.

Solution

The only solution is to override the default image sizes to fit your blog.

How to override?

1. Upload the image and choose any size except original size.

2. Click on HTML tab just adjacent to Compose tab in blog post editor.

3. Use Ctrl+F to find the image by name in HTML editor. [Note- the spaces in between the uploaded image's name are replaced by '+' sign].

4. Just after the image's name width is mentioned in pixels. Override it to fit you blog to best level. 

[Note- aspect ratio of image is maintained. So change the width only, height will change in accordance to aspect ratio.]

Disadvantage-

There is only one disadvantage of re-sizing image that too under one condition. The images that contains text get upon re-sizing will produce blurred text.

Resizing Image

Every month about 301,000 people search Google for topic resizing image. About 12,100 people search for Image resizing softwares. Maximum of these are Windows user and thus they have ultimate resizing tool that comes with Windows, that is, Paint.

Paint

1. Open your image in Paint.
2. Select Resize option in Home Tab.

3. Select Pixels or Percentage.
4. Select or deselect the Maintain aspect ratio option. [What is aspect ratio? It is the ratio of length to breadth of the image. After selecting it your image will maintain aspect ratio when resized].
5. Put the values and click OK. Your image will get resized in a jiffy.


In case you don't want to add any values.
1. Open image.
2. Select 'Select' option. Pres Ctrl+a to select entire image. Now there will be three square shaped marker click and drag them to resize. (NOTE- Aspect ratio is not maintained.)

Other

Other software that allows you to resize are "Picasa" and "Paint.NET".

Best html editors for learners

First of all html is not a programming language. It is a markup language where a designer or web developer uses tags to create web pages. When these html pages are requested by a user, the server sends html codes consisting of content in tags. It is the browser that identifies and runs the underlying program associated with these tags.

Let's take a step back to high school where we all have studied mathematics and biology. These two subjects can be taken into consideration while explaining the fact that html is like these two you need to learn the tags and it use and need to apply almost regularly to always remember them and have a better approach.

There are three editor I like to share that can function good for beginners.

1. Text Editor- This is considered a good html editor as it makes you learn the tags as you write them. But this editor is a kind of boring one and if you have moved even to level one it starts causing headache. The only reason is its mono-colored user interface. World Wide Web Consortium recommends text editor.

2. CoffeCup Free HTML Editor- Now if you have moved to level one, that is, you have gone through 25+ tags and atleast 1 or 2 template (it doesn't matter if you have edited it or not but have gone through it). The editor has a multicolored work area. As this is designed for html manipulation purpose so it recognizes tags and content and thus displays them with different colors. This provides you with easy readability.

Moreover, these editor have an advantage over softwares like Adobe Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver has auto tag completion functionality that completes the tags started. This prevents the learner from writing them again and thus they may possibly fail to know their minor mistakes and possible syntax errors.

3. Microsoft Visual studios for application- It also allows you to edit html and xml templates. But this has auto completion and parsing functionality. Auto complete completes the tags as soon as you press < / keys. Parsing functionality runs after your edits and also places the content in a poetry like look automatically.

Send message via bluetooth in Nokia devices

Sometimes you are extremely low on balance and possibly don't have a message voucher to send low cost messages. I currently own Nokia devices only so I don't know if these king of features exist on other company's devices or not.

1. Open the desired message in editor.

2. Go to options and select "Mark all" and copy all text.

3. Now return to home screen.

4. Go to Menu> Organizer> Notes.

5. Select "Add note".

6. Go to options and "Paste" and Save.

7. Now go to options and select Send note> select "Via Bluetooth".

You are all done.

Cyber Legislation Means More Cyber Monitoring

So more strange happenings when it comes to cyber privacy and that too at the government level. Now this is something we should be used to since, well, let’s face it we have been witnessing the tugs, pushes, and pulls from all the politicians, law makers, law enforcers, and policy makers. Perhaps it wouldn't feel like a tiring soap opera we have all been through if things were to pace up, or yes, even go so far as make sense. But worry not, things do take queerer turns on this side of the virtual world.

Why CISPA is Making Headlines

In the latest story about CISPA (Cyber Intelligence and Sharing Protection Act), President Obama (yes he’s involved too, surprise) is believed to be willing to sign the bill. Now for those who are unaware of the story, basically, the CISPA is a controversial bill which already the majority of the President’s office has out rightly threatened to veto. Now if the president signs it anyway, whose court the ball is in becomes pretty clear.  The controversy is pretty simple. The White House has made it clear that any legislation regarding information sharing will only be passed if it meets certain privacy criteria.

Now what that criterion is, is one, they will not approve anything which neglects infrastructure like electricity, water, and air traffic systems. Two, they will not approve anything that violates citizens privacy rights in the name of cyber security. This in average Joe lingo means they will not approve of information being collected from citizens without their consent via computer monitoring and cell phone tracking. Now, if you are skeptical regarding the latter part of their two stroke objective, you are weary and have learnt well. CISPA does not cover either of these bases when it comes down to it, hence the controversy.

CISPA means…

Exactly what is CISPA may be unclear to some still. So here is the hoe down, CISPA is the latest cyber security bill which allows the sharing of private user information (probably obtained through cell phone tracking) with the Federal Government without any inquiries, such as a warrant for starters. This means that if the data provided can be used or is of some worth as helping maintain say ‘national security’ for one, companies are free from harm from litigation or legal reprimanding even if what they did was divulge consumer privacy information. Of course, the bill got some retouches and botox to make it look more like it cared about citizen privacy but really not enough to change its essential purpose; safeguarding companies and agencies that use private information without consent.

Unclear Situations

Well perhaps this could have been overlooked as a bold procedure on behalf of CISPA supporters to be rejected and made an example out of. Unfortunately, it’s these same supporters who are confident that if they can ‘get a bill on information-sharing to the President’s desk, he’ll sign it’. But even making its way to the Presidential desk seems a tough job at this point. Thankfully, the Senate doesn't seem to want to let it get there. But somehow that doesn't seem to soothe consumer anxieties. Reason being that the situation is more sensitive than we would like to think. Changes in the White House can shift the majority opinion in an instant and of course, the President hasn't been known to take moral stands much, taking them in the face of pressure seems highly unlikely now. Sad to say, the signs on cyber legislation are varying but the eventual prediction is that it can’t be avoided. And who knows how much privacy we will be able to retain, or even recall then.

How to transfer files from one PC to another

Whenever you transfer files from one desktop to another desktop or laptop via pen drive it takes a lot of time because generally pendrive provides you with speed of 4Mbps to 10Mbps. Moreover, the transfer has to be done twice.

Though windows has it own homegroup option that allows to join two computer, but it only allows access to Pictures, Music, Videos, Documents and Printers. Sharing printer is a positive point that homegroup has but has no advantage when taking this post title into consideration.

While transferring files or folders, the best option is when you have access to every drive of another's system and all of its folders and files.

How to connect two systems?

To connect two system use ethernet cable or two way USB cable. Using ethernet cable is better option than two way USB cable. Port speed of ethernet is 100Mbps whereas USB port offers only 10Mbps. Transfer rate is about 10-15 Mbps with ethernet.

How to transfer files?

Download and install ipmsg. 
Run the application it will automatically show user's system names of the systems connected. 
Right click to open the menu.

NOTE- Install 32bit version on 32bit Windows and 64bit on 64 bit Windows. 32 bit gets installed on 64bit Windows the application will work also but some text files will be transferred only.

I don't know my Windows version

To know whether your system is 32bit or 64bit, right click on My Computer icon and select properties or press and hold 'alt' key then double click My Computer icon.
